O’Dwyers 0-15 Garristown 0-09

Joy Cup

9th April 2013

Bremore Park

Finally for O’Dwyers Intermediate footballers they got their well deserved win. They played slick, fast paced, free flowing football for the majority of the game leaving Garristown in their wake.

First half seen O’Dwyers play up the hill with the wind. Winning the ball in midfield from the throw up lead to the first of many attacks. The score line could have included a goal only for the white paint of the upright. Liam Prout dropped a 45 into the box which was redirected by the fists of Seán Garvan onto the post, leaving the Garristown goalkeeper and defender flat footed. The goalkeeper could not believe his luck when the ball landed in his hands. Half Time Score: O’Dwyers 0-09 Garristown 0-05

Second half didn’t start as it ended for O’Dwyers. Garristown got their purple patch knocking four points over without reply bringing the game back level. The fourth of these points seemed to give O’Dwyers the kick that they needed and they stepped up a gear. O’Dwyers knocked over the next six points, started by a sublime free kick from Liam Prout and added to by superb shooting by Michael Brady.

Next up for O’Dwyers Intermediate footballers is Kilmacud Crokes in AFL4 on Saturday 13th April at 18:00 in Bremore Park. Come along and cheer them on.

AFL 4 - Scoil Uí Chonaill 3-13 O'Dwyers 1-13

The curse of a slow start came back to haunt O'Dwyers Intermediates yesterday morning in Clontarf.

Within the first 15 minutes of the game O'Dwyers found themselves 3-02 to 0-00 down. Worst start imaginable for the travelling team.

O'Dwyers started to get a hold on the middle of the park which lead to a small comeback leading up to half time.

O'Dwyers exploded into life in the second half hitting five points without reply. Scoil Uí Chonaill didn't know what had hit them. With 10 minutes remaining Liam Prout picked the ball up inside the 45 yard line, ran at the Scoil defence and buried into into the back of the net. A glimmer of hope shone in the O'Dwyers players eyes as an comeback was on.  Unfortunately as the deficit reduced, the time ran out and O'Dwyers just could not close the gap fully.

With some impressive displays from Johnny McGarry, Seán Garvan, Liam Prout, Emmet Sheridan & Coman Burke, O'Dwyers can take hugh positives from this game and bring into next weeks cup game v St Brigids and then into the second league game against St Finians Newcastle.

O’Dwyers GAA: Keith Gorman, Dean Buckley, Coman Burke, James Devoy, Michael Brady, Declan Lannon, PJ Gallagher, Johnny McGarry, Seán Garvan, Harry McNally, Liam Prout, Andrew Nally, Emmet Sheridan, Aaron Keenan, Ciaran Gaye.

Subsitutions: Damien King for PJ Gallagher, David Smith for Michael Brady

Scorers: Liam Prout 1-06, Aaron Keenan 0-03, Seán Garvan 0-02, Michael Brady 0-01, Johnny McGarry 0-01

St Margarets 1-10 O'Dwyers 1-07

Venue: St Margarets

Date: 16th February 2013 @ 18:00

After a slow start in the first half O'Dwyers found themselves down by three points. On the 20 minute mark Seán Garvan delivered a great pass to Liam Prout, only for him to be fouled and O'Dwyers awarded a penalty. The penalty was cooly converted by Prout to bring the game level. Unfortunaley, St Margarets were awarded a penalty 3 minutes later for a technical foul in the square. The penalty was placed into the bottom corner to leave three between the teams at half time.

In the second half, O'Dwyers came out of the blocks very quickly and put untold pressure on St Margarets. O'Dwyers held majority of possesion for this half but where unable to covert this into scores and catch St. Margarets.
